St. Nicholas of Japan: On August 1, , in the Beryoza village in the Smolensk province, a son was born to the poor family of deacon Dimitry Kasatkin and was named Ivan. The Church of St Mary and St Nicholas is a Church of England parish church in Littlemore, Oxford, Oxfordshire. The church is a grade II* listed building. The church was founded by John Henry Newman, later Cardinal Newman of the Roman Catholic Church, and it became a centre of Anglo-Catholicism.   Construction at the new St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church began on Monday -- with hardhats fitting the first skylight into the dome of the 9/ravaged structure during a special ceremony. The children received St. Nicholas: The Real Story of the Christmas Legend several years ago on the feast day so we will be using that to kick our homeschool off for the day. I’ll gather the crew, start our day with the St. Andrew Novena and then read our St. Nicholas themed book.
